In you opinion, what should my neighbor's punishment be?
One of my neighbors shoots other people’s dogs for fun. He shot two of my neighbors’ dogs in their own yard. He killed one of them. The other one got shot in his leg, so he’s still ok, but it really upset me because even though they aren’t my dogs, I still see them every day, and whenever my neighbors come over, they bring the dogs, so I’ve gotten kind of attached to them. We called the police, and he said that the dogs were in his yard, but I know they weren’t because I saw him drive by and shoot at them, so I ran in the house to avoid getting shot myself. But the police believed him.
Just for fun, since the police aren’t going to do anything, I’ve been thinking about some fun ways for him to have to suffer to death, since the poor dogs had to. I’m not going to hurt him. But I think it would be really cool if he walked outside to go to work one day and a few dogs came up and ate him to death. That would be fun to hear about since he thinks its ok to shoot dogs that didn’t do anything wrong.
Maybe the police didn’t want to get involved since the property in question was dogs & their lives do not weigh heavily on the scales of justice.
The wiring in the mind of someone who likes to use dogs as target practice cannot be sound, so I would hope that if there was sufficient evidence, the court would hand down a custodial sentence. If your neighbors with dogs install video cameras, the person shooting dogs may stop to save his own worthless skin or be caught on tape which is hard evidence.
I somehow doubt that police would trawl through questions & that you would use your own name, so ignore that advice.
Edit: It does not matter how *pissed off* someone may be, humans have the higher brain function to choose not act of their emotions.

Set up a video camera. He will end up doing it again. Try to get it on film and present the evidence to the police. Animal cruelty is punishable by several years in prison and large fines that go to rescue shelters. Be Proactive.

Can you take pictures or video when you see him shooting? Call the police and tell them you are really scared he may shoot you, this will get their attention more than if he is shooting at dogs. Tell everyone how afraid you are, because he is shooting around people and pets.

You set up a video surveilance camera, and catch him in the act. Show this to the police, and he will go to jail, and be fined for animal cruelty. He will have to pay restitution to the owners of the dogs injured or killed. this is the NORMAL, and LEGAL thing to do.

You can go to your state’s attorney & file a civil complaint. Make a pest of yourself with the police, have your neighbors do the same, the police will finally get the message.
Personally, I believe there’s a special place in hell for animal abusers. I hope they get all they have coming.
Go gettum!!!

don’t bother calling the police call the humane society…… or call peta (people ethical treatment of animals) what happened to the dead dogs body? they can trace bullet to neighbor. discharging weapon inside city limits etc etc there are many charges that can be brought against him… not just animal cruelty

Hey Louie…you realize that if that neighbor of yours drops from ANYTHING and the police that you look down on gets a hold of this question, and I am sure they will if they look at you at all, you will be a GREAT person "of interest" that they would LOVE to talk to since you are wishing him a painful death….delete now and save the trouble!!!

the answers you have got is fullproof. but he will have to act the devil once more to prove his evils which i dont want . moreover setting the camera is not so easy. he will not face the camera to prove his misdeeds. why dont you talk to the owners of the dogs why is he silent? i smell rot in his affairs also.

He should be arrested and sent to prison for animal cruelty.

I am of the strict opinion that all people who harm animals intentionally should be subjected to the same treatment that they hashed out on the animals, then taken out back and shot.

Change your approach to the police. If he shot two of these dogs in their own yard then he clearly has no consideration for the fact that children may be present, and that he could have missed and hit somebody. Insist to the police that even though he’s allowed to shoot on his own property and that is not the issue at hand, nor is it an issue if he shoots a dog on HIS property, him shooting onto somebody else’s property, especially at their dogs, is alarming. Odds are your neighbors will have to pitch the fit, the police can’t do anything if you do since he isn’t shooting at you or your dogs.
Also try to see things from his perspective. Do the dogs run loose? Do they have a habit of going onto his property? If the dogs are a nuisance to him then he’s going to take care of that nuisance. For all you know he’s tried calling the police about dogs at large and they did nothing for him, either. Tell your neighbors to suck it up, go over to his place, knock on the door, and apologize for letting their dogs roam on his property, assure him that they are now confined, and to please stop shooting at them as they will not disturb him again.
They need to kennel or tie their dogs up or keep them in the house. No running free. If the dogs bark, they must be kept inside. Since the dogs need exercise your neighbors will have to start walking them regularly.
Remember that there are two sides to every story. The guy may not be a complete psycho like he’s painted up to be, he may be genuinely pissed off about dogs crapping all over his lawn. If this is the case, your neighbors are just as at fault as he is.
If they already restrain their dogs and he likes to shoot them anyway then that’s different. Your neighbors need to pitch a bigger fit to the police and remind them that he’s shooting in the direction of their house to frighten or kill their dogs, which means one day he WILL accidentally miss and hit somebody. Tell them that for everybody’s safety he needs to be stopped.
Catch him on camera if you can. If not, the police only have his word against theirs, and if they believed him then it’s likely because they noticed their dogs running loose and unrestrained, giving him a plausible argument. Restrain those dogs for their own good.

I think Greek God AKA Greekman is the shooter!

Tell your neighbors to watch their dogs when they are outside. Try to avoid going out when he is outside or home. Set up video cameras to catch him in the act. When you catch him on the video show it to the police. He will go to jail. He’s just a horrible person. And make sure he doesn’t see the cameras or you setting them up.
Great White Shark | Nov 11, 2009
You need to videotape him doing it. It’s your/their word against his. Anyway, something you CAN do is discuss why it’s important for dog owners to be outside WITH their animals.
"ut I think it would be really cool if he walked outside to go to work one day and a few dogs came up and ate him to death."
No, it wouldn’t be cool. The owners of the dogs would be imprisoned for his death.
Videotape the guy doing it, get witnesses, etc and GO down to the police station to file a report.
